Barbora Nacarova
founder & creative director

Born in Czechoslovakia, studied in Barcelona, now based in Rome.

Barbora is an architect who stepped into the lighting design world after studying Architectural Lighting Design at the European Design institute of Barcelona in 2015. During her studies she has been hired by the award-winning lighting design studio artec3 where she gained experience through diverse projects, residential, corporate, museum and exhibition lighting and light art installations. Afterwards she continued to broaden and deepen her knowledge by collaborating with set and lighting designer María Güell Ordis who mostly works on public space projects and various ephemeral installations for the city of Barcelona.

In 2018 Barbora moved to Rome where she founded Dolce e Luce Lighting Design to seek further exploration of the artistic, creative and conceptual side of architecture. She grew her fascination in light’s capabilities and the suggestive potential of its intangible substance, able to create enormous monumental effects and carve shapes into space as a proper constructive material.

She also co-organized a series of workshops in Slovakia focused on the main idea of bringing together art, technology and people into the public space. The question of how far one can go within public space gave rise to a specialized workshop, focusing on technological experiments, lighting installations, even virtual and augmented reality trials alongside with digital interactive immersive performances.

Barbora is a professional member of APIL (Lighting Design Professional Association in Italy).
