Collaborating with complementary professions such as architecture, product design, graphic design, engineering and landscape design we offer a creative lighting consultancy service that combines architectural lighting design, lighting in landscape design, urban lighting, light art installations and luminaire design, media facade design, and lighting controls.
We create original lighting designs using light and darkness to enhance the visual environment or dynamically shape the space experience and make it perfectly aligned with the clients’ business requirements.
With an aim of accelerating the transition towards a sustainable society, we constantly adapt to new technologies and we draw a wide array of techniques to provide cutting edge solutions to the lighting projects and to maximise the possibilities while minimising energy use and environmental impact.
Passion and attention to details is the cornerstone of our design process.
We work on all phases of the lighting project, from architectural project documentation to construction site supervision, order management and control system programming. These phases allow us to integrate easily with the RIBA architectural phases and also give the opportunity to review the project with the client and the design team at each stage to ensure the best outcome for the client.
The excellent result of the project requires a hard work process; it is the sum of creativity, professionalism, discipline, organisation and methodology applied in each phase of project development.
Listening to our customers' wishes is the first step towards a creative brainstorming process. It is an opportunity to learn about the role that light can play in the project and its space.
Where we collaboratively develop conceptual lighting ideas.
Where we start to expand the ideas into a workable project and test the budget and brief.
Complete the drawn design work and coordinate with the design team.
We take care of the executive supervision of the works so that everything is carried out as planned and to provide solutions to unexpected events.
Capture, set up control and lighting systems and see the space come to life through the intelligent use of light!
Based in Rome, we bring together a group of creative professionals, engineers and other specialists to work with clients around the world.
Barbora Nacarova
founder & creative director
Graduated in Architecture, she specialised in Architectural Lighting Design and, after working in several renowned studios, founded the Dolce e Luce Lighting Design studio in 2018 continuing to constantly explore the artistic, creative and conceptual side of architecture. She thus grows incessantly her fascination for the great capacity of light, an immaterial substance capable of creating monumental effects to the point of almost becoming a concrete construction material.
She combines her professional activity with the academic one, imparts lessons at the Master of Lighting Design at Sapienza, University of Rome and holds workshops at the national and international level focused on the field of technological experimentation, light and art installations.
She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Professional Association of Lighting Designers - APIL(Association of Lighting Professionals in Italy).
Invisible Štiavnica – newest media workshop - is a project aimed at integrating the latest technologies and intermediate creative approaches and their interactivity in the field of art in public space, with the direct involvement of spectators. Workshop participants create works for a specific space, but their essence is virtual, almost ephemeral. They exist outside of physical reality or at its (digital) boundaries.
The workshop was the continuation of the "Invisible Štiavnica game" platform which brought artistic interventions in various public spaces of the historic center of Banská Štiavnica, a Slovakian town which, together with its surroundings, is included in the list of heritage UNESCO. Curiosity about how far we could push forward in working with public spaces generated a specific workshop. The rigid urban planning constraints have opened up enormous possibilities for experimentation, the difficulty of intervening 'physically' on buildings/structures/monuments has pushed us to go even deeper into research on the use of public space.
The topic changed every year, through the interconnection of different areas such as lighting design, interactive sound installations, audiovisual installations, videomapping, live-coding, virtual and augmented reality and other digital interactive performances, with the main goal of bringing people closer to art and technology in public space.
