Arena of Tor Vergata

The Tor Vergata Arena, known as the “Vela di Calatrava,” has been redeveloped and inaugurated in 2025 after years of abandonment. It can host 8,000 seated spectators and up to 15,000 in total, with new green areas, parking facilities, and a scenic lighting system. Originally conceived as the City of Sport for the 2009 World Swimming Championships but never completed, it has now been transformed into a major public space dedicated to culture, research, sustainability, and sports, becoming a new urban hub for Rome.
